It is now almost Ten years since Scott's tragic passing,
(21st June 1998), and in that time his memory has served to become the cornerstone of the Scott Banks Memorial Fund. Our main income comes from the
sales of tickets and raffle tickets, together with other fund raising activities,
associated with the "Big Night Out", which is run to coincide with
the Scott Banks Memorial Tenpin Bowling Tournament, held annually in Leeds over the May/June bank holiday weekend. We also receive
funding from "Lane Sponsorship" during the tournament.
A common misconception is that we run this tournament which
is currently run by AMF Bowling. We do not make anything from this tournament,
quite the contrary, over the years we have often had to make a significant contribution to the prize fund to
encourage attendance.
We became a registered charity in 2004 and our stated aim
is:
The provision of facilities for the recreation and other
leisure-time occupation of young people under the age of 24 who reside in the Yorkshire area, with the object of improving their conditions of life, particularly by the provision of facilities for the sport of Tenpin Bowling
We have donated a total of £10,250 of the funds raised to the
Leeds General Infirmary
Neurological Unit.
I should also make a special mention to thank the only League
in Yorkshire that makes a regular contribution
to the Scott Banks Memorial Fund, The Friday Fives in
AMF Leeds. Over the years, they have
raised a total of £5,391 for the Fund. It's amazing what a few pence per
bowler, per week of the league can add up to. Thank you for your continued
support.
Thank you also to everyone who has contributed to the fund
over the years, and please continue to help us provide financial support to the young bowlers of Yorkshire.
